Hi! I am Palabok's brother and I got the FF14 Beta. My character name is Balik Bayan and Im currently in Gridania nubbing it up. Im also in the Kashuan server.

I have no idea what Im doing lol. I used to play FFXI on my sister's account up to lvl25 as a red mage hume....

Luci and I went off exploring last night and it actually took 4hrs to run from Gridania to Ul'dah, the long way around.(not the direct path south, we went west and around)

This world is just absolutely huge and beautiful, they did an absolutely amazing job.

I'm stuck on a quest called, some like it hot. Im told to meet this one person L'Malana (name is only close) then head to camp. I got to the mentioned gate, no instance and I talked to every npc that would listen but no one knows shits. I have tried going to my camp by myself and no triggers.

Thats a really nice site. Yea... the quest's "head to the gate" is just REALLY hard to trigger. triggered it accidently walking back into town one time. either they fixed the detecting trigger or its a REALLY small area. nothing like "i'll meet you by that pile of dirt outside the gate"

There's no shortcut really, they just giving keys out in waves it seems to prevent a giant flood all at once.

Rather than continually posting the update files I find, I found this post stickied on 14core. Make sure to read THE WHOLE original post (don't need to read the entire thread, just the first post) before you download or do anything.

For those running an Nvidia card, here are the latest beta version video drivers :

Vista and W7 - 64 bit

Vista and W7 - 32bit

Reported performance increases for FF14 seem to range from no increase noticeable to holy shit.

As always, update at your own risk (I updated my rig with these a few minutes ago).

Oddly the first thing I noticed with the new drivers is navigating the Actions & Traits menu for setting abilities is a loooooot faster, doesn't seem to affect the rest of the menu system though.. odd.
